The Story of Titanic: A Great Ship and a Great Tragedy

Introduction
The Titanic was one of the biggest and most beautiful ships in the world. It was a modern wonder, built to take people across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe to America. Everyone thought the Titanic was unsinkable. But on its first journey in 1912, something terrible happened. This is the story of the Titanic.

A Quiet Night on the Sea
On April 14, 1912, the Titanic sailed across a calm sea. It was very late at night, and the stars shone brightly in the sky. The passengers were from different classes. Rich passengers in first class enjoyed delicious food and live music. In third class, families and workers slept, dreaming of their new life in America.

Nobody knew that behind the ship, a large iceberg was moving slowly in the water. This iceberg would soon change everything.

The Iceberg and the Disaster
At 11:40 PM, the Titanic hit the iceberg. The ship was moving very fast, and the iceberg made a big hole in its side. Water started to fill the lower parts of the ship.

At first, many passengers did not understand the danger. They thought the Titanic could not sink. But the ship’s crew knew the truth. The Titanic did not have enough lifeboats for everyone.

The Last Hours
As the Titanic began to sink, the crew told people to get into the lifeboats. Women and children went first. Rich and poor passengers stood together, waiting for their turn. Some people stayed behind, playing music to help others stay calm.

The ship sank slowly into the freezing ocean. For many passengers, there was no way to escape.

A Sad Ending
By the early morning of April 15, the Titanic was gone. Over 1,500 people died in the cold water. Only about 700 people survived. These survivors were rescued by another ship, the Carpathia.

The story of the Titanic is both sad and unforgettable. It shows us the bravery of people during a tragedy and reminds us to always be prepared for the unexpected.
